Portland Reflexology is OPEN for you. Where do we begin again?

June 18, 2020

Portland Reflexology is OPEN for you. Where do we begin again? In your backyard?  At my home office?
If you’d like a reflexology session and aren’t ready to leave home, then let me come to you. I’ve been making home visits with my reflexology chair for 12 years now. So, there’s no need to leave home. And there’s no need for me to come inside. I have the towels, sanitizer, lotion, blankets, stool, everything I need to take care of you under the sky. Especially when the weather gets warmer. I’ve done many events and retreats under the trees and I can tell you, it’s marvelous. Yes, I’ll wear my mask and follow all the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) guidelines for a personal business.  So that’s one idea: I come to you.

Idea Two: You come to me and Dakota will bark just like old times.

In May, using the OHA’s 5-page to-do list, I started getting ready for you.  All the hardwood floors have now been cleaned professionally and I have a sanitizer for doing the job daily. I have two new Winix hepa air purifiers. I’ll put clean scrubs on just for you every time. I'll wear a mask. And, of course, all the linens will be changed and the session room and bathroom cleaned after every client.

When I send your reminder email, I’ll include these questions:

  • Have you had a cough
  • Have you had a fever over 100.3
  • Have you had shortness of breath
  • Have you been in close contact with anyone with these symptoms or anyone diagnosed with Covid-19 in the past 14 days
If you answer any of these with a “yes,” we’ll simply reschedule.

In fact, if you awake and feel ill, just call and we’ll reschedule.

When you arrive, I’ll take your temperature with my new touchless thermometer and ask you to please fill-out a tracing questionnaire to help Multnomah County find you if need be. I’ll offer you a face mask if you forget yours. Then we’ll both wash our hands or use sanitizer and head to the session room where I’ll bathe your feet in hot, soapy water like I always do.

I’m doing all these things to keep you safe. But I can tell you once we get used to this new routine, and you’re on the warm table, it will be like old times. You’ll start to relax and sink deeply into the touch and care I always provide for you with reflexology.

At the beginning of this pandemic, I might have to close my business.

That’s how overwhelming this all felt. But you are too important and what happens in this hour with you is what truly matters to me. So, I’ve now cleaned everything I can see, purchased all the cleaning supplies and new products we need and I’m ready to welcome you back.

My dear friend Kathy Bulfin made this art piece (see photo at top) for me a few years back. When I thought I couldn’t possibly re-open safely enough for you, I would read what she mosaiced here: Nevertheless, she persisted. Those words gave me strength. Please come soon. We’ll persist together.
