Walking is the best exercise. It’s cheap, just out the door, and you're on your way from sun up til sun down with a little rain here and there. It gets your blood moving and helps your mood.
This winter my boots and shoes hurt my feet, something I had not noticed before because when I walked Dakota he was interested in so many things that he distracted me. When I started walking alone in those boots and shoes I did notice the discomfort.
So I actually did what I suggest you do. I took out my inserts to see where my toes lay inside my shoes, and was shocked to see my toes were squeezed together at the end of my inserts. Imagine my surprise! My feet had grown once more and it made a difference.
Off I went to Northwest Foot and Ankle in Beaverton-my shoe store for years…the place I recommend you go for wider toe box shoes. Renee handed me a pair of LEMS — a favorite — a half size bigger, 9.5. I have no ego about my shoe size or my waist these days. I want shoes I can be comfortable in when I walk my 3000 to 4000 steps a day.
I bought Lems Primal 3 and also Lagna, a slipper with a rubber sole. Now I don’t slip on the wooden floors. For the first time I can wiggle my toes inside my shoes. Such freedom. And it’s amazing how much warmer my toes feel now that they aren't squeezed into the side and end of my shoes.
Even reflexologists need to practice what they preach.
Come again soon and bring your walking shoes. Let’s see if your feet have grown and if you’re in the right shoe for walking. Because Spring 2026 is coming to your neighborhood soon.
For your convenience, my reflexology hours are Monday through Saturday, with appointments at 10am, 1pm, and 4pm. If these hours don’t quite work, let me know and we’ll make a special time for you.
